Marketing The Not So Marketable

Ok! You have just started your first online business. Now what? Well, if you are like most "Now what" is equivalent to no traffic, no sales, lots of money spent on advertising, wasted time on traffic exchanges, etc... The list goes on and on. I am sure you have read all the articles that tell you the best way to market your products or website. So, I am not going to bore you with the rhetoric. What I will tell you is that not every marketing technique works for every niche.

What do I mean by niche and techniques that don't work for all of them. Let's say for a moment that you are selling the best #2 pencils in the world on your site. Marketing gurus will tell you that the #1 marketing technique for getting traffic to your site is "Article Marketing". Let's be realistic for a moment. How many articles better yet interesting articles do you think you could write about #2 pencils? I am going to venture out on a limb and say even if you could write one article it probably wouldn't be very interesting at all.

How do you market the not so marketable? That is a question that not many people could answer myself included. Why bring it up then? To let people know that just like college degrees some online businesses just don't make sense. If you have a niche product or service that you are trying to market and it just isn't working then the problem may be that your niche is not something that people are very interested in. Don't quit though hold your head high and try to find something else.
